"Mommy, when I poop in the potty, it comes out the fire place and makes a big fire that isn't so stinky."
Yep, that's my boy.

My Heart Shaped Box
We all remember the days of exchanging hand written Valentine's as kids. Well now we get to experience it again through William. He got to make a fun box to collect his Valentine's in at school and decorate it.
He had such fun opening it up and seeing all the cool Valentine's he got, including candy, pencils and other treats.
William even dressed for the day- looking very snazzy in his sweater vest. There's no special love just yet, although he does really enjoy his friends, Parker and Tinsley a lot!
I also made some fun treats for Valentine's day for work!

Go Red Dragons!
We are thrilled that William is playing on a new soccer team this year for U4, the Red Dragons! Last year, his team had like three boys drop out and we never had enough players, it was a little disorganized etc. This year, we are thrilled with his team. The coach is fantastic and the kids really respond to him. William actually listens in practice this year and isn't off picking wildflowers. I think he'll end up being a pretty decent player when he gets older if he decides to continue playing.
Should be a fun season for the Red Dragons! His favorite part of practices and games, other than the snacks, is the group cheer- 1-2-3, Go Red Dragons!!!!

Day at the Museum
We recently spent a gorgeous Saturday in late February at the local Science Museum down at Fair Park. I have fond memories of spending the night there with the girl scouts and participating in all sorts of fun workshops!
William really enjoys the children's section of the museum. So when we let him pick where to go (zoo, aquarium etc.), he chose the museum.
Here he is checking out a robotics exhibit. He was trying to use the robot arm to pick something up. With a little help from his daddy, he succeeded!
There is a very cool old periscope from a submarine that was captained by a local Texan and hero. You could look out to downtown Dallas!
William loved making this hot air balloon rise!
It's not a day at the kid's museum without a slide down fire truck playground!

There is also a cool water play area. Thankfully they provide waterproof aprons!

After tackling almost the entire museum, we decided to head out and check out the aquarium at Fair Park. It isn't as nice as the Dallas World Aquarium, but still fun. They had a cool albino alligator and we got to watch the staff feed the octopus.

We then headed outside to enjoy the weather at Fair Park, exploring the little pond and the grounds. We missed the State Fair this year since we had our big Disney trip in October, but we will definitely go this year!

"Mommy, I have a baby in my belly. His name is Michael." His cousin/best friend's name is Michael. Go figure.
"Mommy, Mrs. Seema (his teacher at school) said she was going to punch me."
I dig deeper to realize, this was on the day before St. Patrick's day and William was not wearing green. We find out he meant "pinch". Big difference between your teacher pinching you on St. Patty's day or punching you for the hell of it!
"Can I have two pink donuts?" When he does well at his soccer game or scores a goal, we always stop by Dunkin Donuts to get him a pink iced donut, his favorite. But this time, he wanted two. He picked a green iced and pink iced. ......and yes, ate both entirely!

Secondhand Magic- Solo at Disneyland
Solo? Me. Yep.
The older I get, the more comfortable I become with doing more things alone. I think it happens with a lot of us as we age. We become more comfortable in our own skins and don't mind going out to dinner or a movie alone.
So when my work recently took me to Anaheim, I of course, had to sneak in a little time at the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland. I left on Thursday, November 10th to attend the National Association of Realtors (NAR) show in Anaheim. My goal was attend sessions to educate myself more about our customers and this new growing market for property management. It didn't hurt that Michael Eisner was the keynote!
So after looking at the tradeshow and conference schedule, I planned how much time I might have free in the evenings or early mornings to sneak over to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. It worked out where I was able to head over at least three separate times during down time from the event.
While visiting the parks solo isn't my favorite thing, it is nice to have the freedom and flexibility to do what I want. I do miss sharing the magic with someone else, although sitting and just people watching is fun, since you can often experience their magic secondhand. It's like secondhand smoke.....secondhand magic.
So I won't go into gory details on my visit, other than to say it was magical. After sitting in long sessions all day, it was nice to have a break with Mickey. Plus, this was a fabulous time of year to visit the parks. The weather was great, the crowds weren't too horrible and several holiday overlays were available on certain attractions, including Small World Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday.
I was able to experience rope drop one day, being one of the first in the park, as my sessions didn't start until after 10am. I also got to hang out during the evening hours too. Haunted Mansion Holiday was fabulous. Last time I visited Disneyland in September 2010, it was down for the overlay, where they transform it into the special holiday version. I absolutely loved the holiday version featuring Jack Skellington. One of my favorite things about Disney is how well they do details and this was no exception. No detail was missed. The paintings in the hallway as you prepare to board were changed to the new theme. It was fantastic. William would have loved it since he is such a Haunted Mansion fan. I ended up riding it at least 3x.
I was also able to experience the fun overlay for Small World. It was so festive inside and the holiday lights on the outside were just unbelievable!

"Mommy, my hands are tired of sleeping."
"Mommy, why do we have hair on our eyes?"
"The wipers are farting."
Here is William's rendition of the windshield wipers "farting" while they move.
